I've never been sure why, but I was drawn to carving people's faces. It's not like I could draw faces, but carving them had a special attraction for me. After really looking at the physical characteristics of faces in more detail, I've learned a little. Still, unless the carving of a caricature captures some sense of expression or emotion, it remains just a chunk of wood.
